Bleaching is used to lighten hair. The bleach reacts with the pigment in the hair. Bleaching removes the pigment. This procedure leaves the hair pale yellow, the natural colour of keratin.

The longer the process time, the lighter the result, maximum 45 minutes.

For bleached highlights in foil, we recommend 1.9% or max. 3% developer. Always start with the darkest area. Dry bleach is weak. Apply KEEN PROTECTIVE SERUM (Scalp protection) if necessary.

PREPARATION

Mix KEEN BLEACHING POWDER with 3% or 6% KEEN CREAM DEVELOPER. For blonde highlights, between 9% and 12% KEEN CREAM DEVELOPER may be used. Blonde highlight mixture should not be allowed to come into contact with the scalp. The lightening treatment is less damaging to the hair if a lower concentration of developer is used. For roots or all-over hair treatments, use no more than 6% developer.

In a plastic bowl (not metal) prepare a mixture of KEEN BLEACHING POWDER + KEEN CREAM DEVELOPER in a ratio of powder: developer = 1 : 2.

PROCESS

Apply the creaming lightening treatment evenly over unwashed hair. Process time: 15 – 45 minutes, checking the lightening progress every 5 – 10 minutes. Process time is dependent on the degree of lightening required, the basic shade, hair structure, technique used and concentration of developer in the mixture. Do not apply artificial heat to shorten process time. Do not exceed the maximum 45 minutes‘ process time.

BLEACHING CREAM

KEEN BLEACHING CREAM is the perfect bleaching cream for gently lightening by up to seven shades. With ist fine and economical consistency, it is also suitable for use on challenging hair and can be used with all bleaching techniques. KEEN BLEACHING CREAM is enriched with shea butter, jojoba oil and beeswax. It retains its softness even during the bleaching process and doesn‘t dry out.

Apply the smooth bleaching mixture EVENLY ONTO DRY, UNWASHED HAIR. Apply a Leave-In-Care (KEEN PROTECTIVE SERUM) for pretreatment. PROFESSIONAL TIP: In the case of a sensitive scalp or recently washed hair, always apply KEEN SOOTHING FLUID to the scalp before bleaching and distribute.

Using a plastic bowl (no metal), mix 1 part KEEN BLEACHING CREAM with 2 parts KEEN CREAM DEVELOPER.

PROCESS

Apply the smooth bleaching mixture evenly onto dry, unwashed hair and leave it to process for 20 – 50 minutes. During this time, check the degree of bleaching every 5 – 10 minutes. The bleaching time depends on the desired degree of blondness, the basic hair tone, the hair structure, the technique used and the strength of the oxidant. Do not leave the mixture on hair for longer than 50 minutes.

FINISHING TREATMENT

After the process time, rinse hair carefully with water and round off treatment with KEEN KERATIN SILVER SHAMPOO. Finish treatment with KEEN KERATIN ONE MINUTE CONDITIONER for neutralization and hair care.
